The stage at K Arena in Yokohama was set for an unforgettable night as Luna Sea embarked on their “MOTHER OF LOVE, MOTHER OF HATE” Dual Arena Tour in 2023. The atmosphere was electric as longtime as well as new fans gathered in anticipation of an extraordinary performance by this legendary Japanese rock band.

  1. LOVELESS:

The concert opened with an ethereal moon image on the screen, casting a gray and luminous light. Three screens framed the stage, enhancing the mystical ambiance. The moon gradually transformed into a vibrant array of colors as Luna Sea appeared on the upper screen, dressed in all-black. The fans’ bracelets added to the spectacle, changing colors as the band kicked off the night with “LOVELESS.”

  1. TIME IS DEAD:

The screens displayed the next song’s title, “TIME IS DEAD,” in white letters, while Sugizo and Inoran changed guitars. As the stage was bathed in fuchsia lights, the guitarists and bassist moved to different sides of the stage, delighting the fans. A powerful solo by Sugizo, accompanied by Ruchi’s signals, made for a remarkable performance.

  1. JESUS:

Vocalist Ryuuichi addressed the ecstatic crowd with love and gratitude before leading into “JESUS.” Rings appeared united on the screen, and the LED bracelets illuminated in dark red, creating a sea of fists raised high. Luna Sea’s mesmerizing performance continued, enveloping the audience in their sonic embrace.

  1. IMITATION:

The stage came alive with red screens, black noise, and an explosive visual display. “IMITATION” transported the audience on a cosmic journey with flashes of purple and pink lights, ensuring a thrilling experience.

  1. FACE TO FACE:

Fans called out the band members’ names, and UV purple lights bathed the stage, immersing the crowd in an otherworldly atmosphere. Luna Sea’s connection with their fans remained palpable.

  1. CIVILIZE:

The stage was filled with green and purple lasers, setting the scene for a lively and rhythmic performance. Orange LED bracelet lights lit up the arena, creating a dynamic and colorful display.

  1. RAIN:

Soft white lights twinkled as lyrics appeared and vanished like smoke on the screens. Sugizo’s acoustic guitar introduction led into “RAIN,” complemented by the imagery of a seagull soaring through the blue sky.

  1. GENESIS OF MIND〜夢の彼方へ〜:

The intermission allowed fans to relax and purchase merchandise, setting the stage for the second half of the show.

-Drum Solo-

Shinya’s drum solo was met with enthusiasm from the audience. His incredible skills and rapport with the crowd were truly memorable.

Luna Sea’s return to the stage was marked by a sense of nostalgia and gratitude. Their appreciation for their fans and the significance of the tour were evident as they launched into the next set of songs.

  1. AURORA:

The stage was bathed in green LED lasers, and colorful lights danced throughout the venue. Fans swayed to the music while the band gave it their all.

  1. IN FUTURE:

Nostalgic videos from their earlier years were displayed as Luna Sea took fans on a surreal trip back in time. The crowd responded enthusiastically, raising their fists to the beat.

 

  1. BLUE TRANSPARENCY〜限りなく透明に近いブルー〜:

“BLUE TRANSPARENCY” seamlessly followed, with blue and red lights adding to the immersive experience. The vocalist played close to Inoran, enhancing the connection between the band and their fans.

  1. ROSIER:

The original music video played on screens, and a red light enveloped the venue. The band’s camaraderie and passion shone through as the song ended with a heartfelt thank you to the audience.

The stage fell dark as fans eagerly awaited the encore.

  1. TRUE BLUE:

A pleasant surprise awaited fans as they were given the chance to take photos during the next songs. The disco ball and shimmering metallic ribbons added a touch of magic to the atmosphere.

 

  1. BELIEVE:

Each band member had their moment on the screens, and Sugizo threw a water bottle towards the lucky crowd. The serene and glittering ambiance filled the venue.

  1. WISH:

During WISH, metallic ribbons were shot over the arena, they glistened and sparkled under the mesmerizing lights and the presence of a glittering disco ball. The entire venue transformed into a tranquil and magical space, with fans swaying their arms from side to side, lost in the music’s embrace.

The song was further elevated as each of the members of Luna Sea appeared on the upper screen, occupying separate rectangles, reinforcing the sense of unity and connection between the band and their devoted audience. To top it off, Sugizo added a surprise touch by throwing another water bottle, this time to the right side of the stage, further enhancing the shared moments of joy and celebration.

The band left the stage again and later, in a second encore, the band returned, all dressed in white.

  1. MOTHER:

The last song of the night, as Sugizo delivered a mesmerizing violin solo. INORAN sang the chorus of the song, the screen beautifully showcased the emotions conveyed in it. As the final notes faded away, Shinya and Sugizo threw their drumsticks and a water bottle into the crowd, respectively. Bassist J expressed gratitude and excitement for the next day’s show.

Luna Sea’s “MOTHER OF LOVE, MOTHER OF HATE” concert in Yokohama was nothing short of a transcendental experience. The band’s energy, connection with the audience, and dedication to their craft left an indelible mark on the hearts of all in attendance. Luna Sea’s music and performance transcended time, making this an unforgettable night for everyone present.
